Application for a Ugandan Entry Visa
Underlying the Uganda Visa Policy is the principle of reciprocity, that all countries that require visas for Ugandans are also visa prone in Uganda. Countries exempted from visas are:
- ANTIGUA AND BERMUDA
- THE BAHAMAS
(DIPLOMATIC AND OFFICIAL / SERVICE
PASSPORT HOLDERS ONLY)
- THE GAMBIA
(DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT HOLDERS ONLY)
- SIERRA LEONE
- SOLOMON ISLANDS
- ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES
Please note that nationals of the countries listed above should possess current passports issued by their respective countries.
Single Entry Visa
The High Commission only issues single entry visas which are valid for 3 months from the date of issue.
Multiple Entry Visa
Issuance of multiple entry visas by Uganda High Commission, Ottawa was suspended until further notice. Multiple entry visa applicants are advised to apply for this category of visa while in Uganda at the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, Ministry of Internal Affairs Kampala.
Visa applications for persons intending to take up employment in Uganda under Entry Permit Class G (Employees, Missionaries, Volunteers and NGO workers) shall only be processed after approval of their Entry/Work Permit applications has been granted. Visa applicants are therefore advised to request their employing organizations/companies in Uganda to submit their applications for Work Permits to the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control Headquarters in Kampala for approval first.
Any person intending to stay longer shall seek the extension of his/her visa at Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control Headquarters in Kampala or the nearest regional office.
East Africa Tourist visa
The High Commission issues East Africa Tourist Visas to persons wishing to visit Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda simultaneously for tourism. East Africa Tourist Visas are for multiple entry and valid for 90 days, and shall not be extended. All applicants of the East Africa Tourist visas must apply in their own right and should attach visa application letters.
Applicants from countries that are on referral shall apply for the East Africa Tourist visa from the Mission whose Government has referral requirements. The holder of the East Africa tourist visa issued by the Mission shall enter through Uganda and move to either Kenya or Rwanda and return to Uganda without having to apply or pay for another visa within a period of 90 days.

Visa Processing Fees
Single Entry Visa: US Dollars 100
Student Entry Visa (Non Nationals of East African Community Partner States): US Dollars 100
East Africa Tourist Visa: US Dollars 100
Payment of visa fees is by postal money order or bank draft in US Dollars issued in the names of “Uganda High Commission-Ottawa”. Please download the visa application form, fill and send it, together with your passport, two recent passport-size photographs and a pre-paid, self-addressed Xpresspost envelope or courier envelope i.e. Fedex, Purolator, DHL, etc.
*Visitors from or passing through a yellow fever and cholera zone (most of tropical Africa and South America) must be able to produce a valid International Certificate of Vaccination. Air travellers who only transit through airports of such a zone are exempt from this requirement. Also be advised that all travellers must be vaccinated against Typhoid and Hepatitis.
