President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni paid an official visit to Cuba from November, 30 – December, 03 2009. Accompanied by wife Mrs. Janet Museveni, the President was received at Jose Marti International Airport by the Uganda High Commissioner to Canada also accredited to Cuba Ambassador George Marino Abola, Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Sam Kutesa and other senior government officials.

Apart from holding meetings with his host and other officials, the President visited the Cuban Biological and Pharmaceutical Laboratory Enterprise Group (LABIOFAM), Energasplant located in Matanzas Province, North of Havana, the Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research for Endemic diseases, the Latin America school of Medicine, the polyclinic, and the International school of Physical Education and Sports that specializes in sports sciences.

The President held a meeting with the Ugandan students in Cuba and the African Heads of Mission in Havana.
